Convenient Columbia River Access from Vancouver
Our trips offer incredibly easy access for anglers coming from Vancouver and the greater Clark County area. By launching near the Vancouver stretch of the Columbia River, we spend less time boating and more time with lines in the water. From this central location, Captain Don Gresham can quickly navigate to highly productive local fishing grounds like the I-5 Bridge area, the Lewis River confluence, the Portland Airport stretch, and even make the run up toward Bonneville Dam.
Local Tip: Because we fish the border waters of the Columbia River, you can easily fish with us using either a valid Washington or Oregon fishing license!
Target Species Near Vancouver, WA
The river systems right in Vancouver's backyard are teeming with life year-round. Depending on the season, your local fishing guide will put you on the best bite:
- Chinook & Coho Salmon: Vancouver sits right on the main highway for legendary spring and fall salmon runs. Spring Chinook ("Springers") are prized for their incredible fighting power and rich, premium meat. In the late summer and fall, acrobatic Coho and massive Fall Chinook push right past the Vancouver waterfront.
- White Sturgeon: The Columbia River is home to the largest freshwater fish in North America. Just minutes from downtown Vancouver, you can battle prehistoric monsters that often exceed 5 to 8 feet in length. It is the ultimate heavy-tackle catch-and-release experience.
- Walleye & Steelhead: Looking for fantastic table fare or a seasonal challenge? We also target aggressive walleye and acrobatic seasonal steelhead during their peak migrations through Southwest Washington.
More Than Just Fishing: Scenic Columbia River Tours
Not everyone wants to reel in a river monster, and that is perfectly fine! If you want to experience the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge and the Vancouver waterfront from the water, we offer Half-Day Scenic Boat Tours.
Perfect for families, couples, and out-of-town visitors, these private cruises offer a relaxing way to explore the river. Take in the stunning views, lush riverbanks, and local wildlife from the comfort of our modern 26' Alumaweld boat.
